Alyssa: I'm always afraid the bridge is going to collapse.

Brian: Mom is afraid of that, too.

Carrie: I'm afraid of that, because I have 4 kids in the back.

Brian: I know. You'd have to pick.

Carrie: Let's not have this conversation out loud.

Pause.

Brian: Are we having it silently now?

Brian: I've always been older than Mom. She keeps trying to catch up to me, but I say, "Not to today!"

We were all playing and wrestling, and Brian pretended to be dead.  Ethan noticed this and said, "Oh no! He's dead!  His heart stopped beeping!"

Carrie: No, thank you.

translation: Would you like some frosting on your pizza?

Ethan: (walking into the school room) Mom, I'm tired of watching t.v.  I want to move mine hand around.

It took Carrie a couple of seconds to figure out that he was trying to con her into letting him use the computer.
